It's so great to take a bath with Ella a few times a week. It calms her down almost instantly getting in the water and she looks around at everything. I also love bath time with her because it's just like the day I had heard and we took our first bath together. I can't wait till she is a bit bigger and we get to add bath toys!

Fabray Disease
Tuesday morning Ella and I were watching the Today show.
Around ten in the morning I got a call from Dawn.
She told me a woman named Dawn Peck had called.
Ella had tested positive for Fabray Disease on her newborn metabolic screening.
I got off the phone and immediately googled it.
Not really the best idea but it was the only one I had.
After I knew what it was I called Adam.
I tried not cry on the phone as I told him that our sweet little girl might have something wrong.
Yesterday we had an appointment with a geneticist.
They were very encouraging as they shared more about this disease with us.
Right now Ella is perfectly healthy.
If she tests positive our family will have a lot of testing to under go.
For the next month we'll be waiting for test results.
We're praying it was just a false positive.
Our God is good all the time this is true positive or negative.
Ella at her first doctors appointment.
Welcome to the World Little One
The morning Ella was born I woke around 5:30.
I had been having contractions on and off for a few days so I tried not to get to excited.
I really thought I would still be pregnant right up through 42 weeks.
I got in the shower and was very quiet since I wanted Adam to stay asleep.
My contractions stayed pretty weak and around 6:30 I was bouncing on my ball hoping things would get more regular .
Adam woke up just before his alarm went off.
I asked him if he'd stay home with me for a bit just in case today was the day.
He got up and around and made breakfast.
I tried to eat a bowl of cereal had one bite and was done.
We hung out the rest of the morning finally calling the midwife at about 10.
My contractions had progressively gotten stronger but nothing I couldn't work through .
Although I did tell Adam all of his phone vibrating was going to have to stop.
Around noon we went on a walk to see if that would make them more consistent and stronger.
We made it about two blocks away in twenty minute and had to turn around and come home .
Most of the day I spent laying over the couch trying to relax.
I wouldn't let Adam turn on the tv.
I really didn't want to be distracted from my contractions.
I wanted them to do their job so we could have a baby as soon as possible.
Between five and six Dawn our midwife got to the house.
She told me I was doing great and started bringing things in from her car.
Adam was filling the tub.
She informed him that he had done it wrong and he needed to refill it.
The liner goes on the inside of the tub incase you need to know.
When Dawn got everything in she asked if she could check me.
It was magic to my ears.
I had been working so hard and wanted to know if anything was going on.
We went back to my room so she could check me.
I was only at a five.
She encouraged me to lay down and try and rest between contractions.
I laid there for about five minutes and decided that was way to painful.
I came back out to the living room where Dawn gave me a talking to.
She told me if I wanted to have this baby I had to make my contractions as strong as they could get.
I took her word for it and crawled back in bed.
Adam stayed with me and Dawn went to grab dinner.
Adam held my hand and read Harry Potter while I was trying to relax and breath through contractions.
I felt so bad for feeling like I couldn't relax and he was working so hard to help me.
Dawn finished eating and sent Adam out to eat.
He said he got about two bites into his burger before Dawn came out.
She told him my water broke and he needed to hurry and finish filling the tub.
She checked me again and told me I was ready to push.
The original plan was to use the tub but there was no way I was walking all the way to it.
I don't remember pushing for that long maybe 20 minutes.
Adam and Dawn where both so encouraging.
I knew I didn't want to tear so I made sure to not rush things.
They told me to feel the top of her head about half way through.
A few minutes later her head was out.
The cord was wrapped around her neck but Dawn calmly got it off.
A few pushes later and Adam was handing me are sweet baby.
I sat up on my knees holding her.
I was so excited that we both had done it.
Dawn and Adam reminded me to lay down on my back.
After she was born I just kept telling her how proud I was of her.
Her heart rate had not dropped with pushing and she had tolerated labor so well.
She laid in my arms with big bright eyes.
My sweet little girl.
She latched on so well only twenty minutes after being born.
Two hours later we were taking a bath together and getting all cleaned up.
By ten that night only two hours after she was born Adam and I were tucked in bed.
It was truly a wonderful experience.
The day went completely different than I had imagined.
Originally I thought I would want candles and music.
I invisioned having lots of natural light from all of our windows.
Eating and watching movies all day.
Instead I wouldn't even let Adam talk.
The windows stayed shut all day.
I didn't want the tv on.
I almost threw up just thinking about food.
It was the perfect day though.
I'm so thankful for my God who gave me the strength to get through that day.
I will forever be in awe of the way he created us.
2 Weeks
Dear Ella,
This week was a busy week!
We went to visit your great grandpa and grandma in Topeka.
We watched daddy do the coaches show at CMU.
You had your first doctors visit and got your blood drawn for the first time.
I think getting your blood drawn was more traumatizing for your dad and me.
You're not gaining weight very quickly, yesterday you were only at 6 lbs 8-9 oz.
You're still 20 in long.
You haven't been sleeping quite as well as last week.
You go about three hours between feedings.
You sleep on mommies chest most of the night.
Two days this week you spent the whole day eating.
You started wearing cloth diapers during the day.
You are alert for longer.
Today you sat in your bouncy seat.
So far you love...
looking out the window behind the couch.
sleeping with mommy.
your puppy laying on the floor with you.
daddy singing la la la if you're crying.
Everyday we pray that God is preparing your future for you.
We love you Ella.

Road Trip
Saturday we went our first mini road trip.
Unfortunately we got off to a late start.
Who would have thought with a newborn right?
We went from Moberly to Kansas City and Ella slept the whole way like a pro.
We were supposed to meet up with family and watch my sister play ball for a bit.
Unfortunately we didn't have the right directions and couldn't make it.
So instead we sat an Arby's parking lot so I could feed Ella.
We parked at the back of the restaurant.
We forgot that would let everyone going through the drive thru peak in our car.
My apologies to anyone who may have seen something they didn't want to.
After we finished up there I dropped Adam off at a random gas station to meet up with his coworker.
They headed to Baker to call a game.
I headed to Topeka.
We made it almost all the way to my grandparents before someone started screaming in the backseat.
We were only about five minutes away so I just let her cry it out.
It was so hard to not be able to comfort her and love on her.
Finally we made it to my grandparents house!
I was thrilled to be able to introduce my grandparents to Ella.
Grandma & Ella
Grandpa & Ella
Not long after we arrived my Aunt Rhonda and cousins Shannon and Kyle came by.
Everyone held Ella and we all had a great visit!
When it was time to go I had to leave the same way I came with a very sad baby.
She didn't get a good nap while we were there and she was exhausted by the time we had to leave.
Once she was in her car seat and we had made it half way down the drive she was asleep.
Thank goodness she likes the car!
Ella and I headed back to Kansas City and met up with my parents at Sam's club.
I nursed her in my Moby wrap to calm her down once we got there!
It was a proud moment for me!
I want to have the confidence to take care of Ella's needs no matter where we are.
I'm so thankful for things like the moby wray where I can be discreet and still feed my daughter.
After a few minutes at Sam's we headed for lunch at Chickfila.
I wish I would have gotten a picture of her first trip there!
Adam and I spent part of our honeymoon at a Chick grand opening.
We love that place!
Finally at about 7:30 we met back up with Adam to head back to Moberly.
We were both absolutely exhausted from the night before and the busy day.
It was great to be back with him and to be headed home!
We made it back to Moberly by about 10.
At the end of the day I was so thankful for my sweet family and the blessing they are to us.

Adam & Ella
Ella was ten days old Sunday!
The three of us spent the whole day at home relaxing.
We took Ella to her room for the first time.
There is absolutely nothing in it yet and the light was great so we got a few pictures.
I think Ella is the cutest baby ever.
My husband is pretty hot too.
It was a great Sunday!

Goodbyes
Yesterday we said goodbye to my family.
It was great to have them here.
I got to show off not only miss Ella but also our new house!
We had planned to take some nice family photos before they left but I was a camera lens short and it got late.
We did get a few pictures though right before they headed out.

1 week
Dear Ella,
We are so thrilled to have had you in our lives for one week!
You have already changed our hearts and our lives forever.
You truly are a blessing from God.
Things are going great so far.
You eat wonderfully.
You've slept five hours at night on four different nights.
You were almost back to your birth weight when you got weighed on Tuesday.
And your jaundice was very light and has now cleared up.
Today you took your first long car ride to Central Methodist University.
So far you love....
sleeping on mommy and daddy's chest.
sitting in your mammaroo.
laying in the sun.
car rides.
rolling on your side.
I can't wait for our next week together and all of our new adventures.
Happy one week pumpkin!
Tylenol & Grandparents
Yesterday was a rough day.
It didn't start out that way.
Adam and I worked hard to get everything ready for my parents to come.
We succeeded!
Ella napping like a champ while we cleaned!
Around one I started running a fever.
It was horrible.
I was shaking and SO cold.
When I finally found a thermometer my fever was about 101.2.
About twenty minutes later it jumped to 102.9.
Adam took me back to the bedroom and got me some Tylenol.
My fever finally went down but I kept a slight temp until this morning.
I guess if that's the worst pain I feel post partum then I can deal with that.
Around lunch my parents came to visit Ella!!
I wasn't feeling so hot but it was nice to have the help.
Are friends Brennan & Christa brought eggplant lasagna.
They loved Ella.
My family loved the food.
Everybody won!

Hello Ella
The past five days have gone by way too quickly!
Our little girl is adjusting to her new world and doing great.
She got to spend the first few days of her life hanging out with Adam's family.
It was wonderful having family here to help us.
Ella had lots of firsts!
She got to see her grandma make Chicken Fried Steak for the first time.
I'm sure it won't be long till she is making it with her.
Sunday morning we all watched Church on the Move online.
Ella snuggled with her grandma on the couch.
Later Sunday night Adam played worship for just her and me.
He played our wedding song that is very close to our hearts.
"House of God Forever"
Adam playing worship for our family was possibly my favorite part of the weekend.
Monday afternoon we went on Ella's first car ride.
It was her first trip to get coffee and will not be her last!
Everyone left late Monday evening and it was sad to see them go.
Today we all relaxed!
All of us including Zeke stayed in bed till 11:45.
It was some much needed sleep!
The day consisted of hanging out on the couch, eating, and a quick weigh in with Dawn.
We did manage to sneak in our first family walk.
Ella and Zeke both did great.
Today also began the first day of eating clean till Thanksgiving!
Tomorrow my family arrives and I can't wait!

The Itty Bitty
Shopping for myself is great but I've been doing that for years... I couldn't leave out our soon to be munchkin!
I can't wait for her to make her arrival so I can dress her in all things fall!
I'm crushing on these things from Gap.
I will take them in every single color!
I mean Ella will. :)
I wish they made them in my size.
And because I can't leave the men out!
Here's what I would ummm.. encourage Adam to wear this fall tweed, plaid, and flannel.
He would prefer to spend his money on a duck stamp.
I love him to the moon and back anyways.
These pants may end up on our door step!
He always has holes in his pants. He runs into things more than a toddler.
We may actually be able to put my theory to the test if our little one ever shows up!!
Happy HUMP day!!

Falling in Love
I LOVE this time of year.
Football, scarves, lattes, and pumpkins.
This weekend was an abrupt change in temperatures here in Missouri. We went from a nice heat to the mid 50's it was glorious.
Hoping that I won't be pregnant forever I've started looking at all the great clothes fall has to offer.
Currently I'm rocking the leggings and sweaters everyday until this baby decides to join us but once she is here I'm hoping to do a little shopping.
4. tassel bag
As a new mom I won't want to stress about how I look.
I love the boyfriend look for just that.
